The image is from when I tried this with just water. Turns out that the powdered milk is in packaged hot cocoa mix to um, taste good. So try it this way instead. And trust me on the pinch of salt

Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/3 c. milk, regular or nondairy, organic preferred, there really is a flavor difference
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • ¼ tsp arrowroot starch or cornstarch
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: 1 tsp chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Pour the milk into a saucepan and warm it up on medium-low heat, covered. You want it to get hot, but not boil or scald. This should take about 10 minutes.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in a mug with a wooden implement of some sort, whether chopstick or the handle of a wooden spoon or whatever
  3. When the time’s up, pour ¼ cup of the milk into the mug and stir very well. Add as much milk as will fit in the mug and stir that well.
