Best flavor, least fuss. I combined a couple of popular methods and added my own ideas.

Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs
  • Bunch of ice ready to go in the freezer

Directions

  1. Put the eggs in a large pot of water just covering them, put it on high heat, cover the pot and wait for the eggs to start moving around a little with fast bubbles around them
  2. Turn off the heat and set a timer for 17 minutes. Keep the lid on the pot for this time
  3. At the 14 minute mark add an ice cube trays’ worth of ice cubes to another large pot and then fill it a little more than halfway with cold water
  4. When the timer goes off lift the eggs one by one with a slotted spoon and put them in the ice bath
  5. Wait 15 minutes
  6. Peel the eggs by cracking them against the side of the pot above the water, then peeling them partially under the water. Let the egg shells go in there, you can sieve them out and compost or trash them later
  7. Refrigerate the eggs in a resealable container. They are ready to go as is, or for potato salads, stuffed eggs, egg salad etc.
